Birgitte regenberg

Professor Birgitte Regenberg has expertise in genetics, genomics and engineering, and has invented new methods in these fields. Her discovery of circular DNA that she found to be abundant and produced from all parts of the genome in several eukaryotic species has attracted worldwide interest. Her findings were made possible by a technological breakthrough where she combined hypersensitive detection of circular DNA with DNA sequencing and advanced novel bioinformatic tools. She thereby solved a longstanding question in genetics concerning the fate of deleted DNA. B. Regenberg is a world leader in the emerging field of circular DNA where together with Yonglun Luo (AU) she has invented a method for target DNA circularization that allows  to insert any possible circular DNA in any desired genetic background.
