Julia S. Johansen

Julia S. Johansen is Professor in Translational Medicine and a well-established, senior clinician/scientist with a sustained track-record of high-impact and large scale clinical trials and novel biomarker discovery in both cancer and inflammatory diseases. She discovered the novel tumor marker YKL-40/CHI3L1. She has developed expertise with establishing biobanks and is the leader of the Danish BIOPAC (BIOmarkers in patients with PAncreatic Cancer) study (started in 2008) and the Danish REBECCA (“Biomarkers in patients with colorectal cancer) study (started 2014). These are observational and translational open cohort studies with prospective collection of biological materials (blood and tissue) and clinical data from patients during all stages of the routine care of patients with pancreatic cancer and colorectal cancer.
